Congratulations to Me, A Versatile Blogger

My dear friend Alex at Gone For A Walk was kind enough to nominate me for the Versatile Blogger award. She is very nice, so go to her blog and read it.

This award does not come with a giant trophy, so I am currently designing my own. If you know a good trophy maker, let me know. I’m thinking a giant wild cat on top. Why? Because its awesome.

For this award, I am required to share seven random things about myself for the world to see. Now, normally I am a very shy and reserved person. I’m very private and this is very much out of my comfort zone. By that, I, of course, mean that it is no big deal.

Factoid #1: I enjoy music and am, or at least pretend to be, musical. I have taught myself guitar and bass and am in the process of teaching myself banjo and mandolin. I also can play piano. I, however, cannot and will not ever be able to play drums. My feet and arms do not get along that well.

I used to be in a band, but at this moment I mostly just play music for fun. Also, I have named all of my guitars, my favorite guitar being named Ella after Ms. Ella Fitzgerald.

Factoid #2: I generally favor higher socks. I’m not talking tube socks that go all the way up my leg or anything crazy like that, I’m talking mid calf. I’m sure you were dying to know that.

Factoid #3: My dog is a miniature dachshund, German for “little sausage shaped dog.” Right now, she is a little upset with me for typing on my laptop instead of petting her. She is giving me this look:

If dogs could cry, that is the look they would make right before the tears started pouring.

Factoid #4: My toes are cold right now. I don’t know why, but they feel like they may fall off soon.

Factoid #5: My favorite book of all time is Catcher in the Rye. I don’t want you to think that I’m saying that to be cool or because it makes myself seem smarter. I actually do enjoy it. I was the only person in my English class in high school that ACTUALLY read it instead of asking the one kid who read what the answers were for the worksheets like the rest of the class did. Don’t worry, I’m not bitter. The bitterness came during the Shakespeare unit.

With that said, I am a sucker for a good biography. Currently, I am reading one about Roger Clemens and how he likes steroids. He is a huge fan of steroids and would marry them if they loved him back. They don’t, though, so he is forced to wander through life alone.

Factoid #6: One of my favorite cities in the world is Minneapolis. I don’t know what it is about Minneapolis, but I find it very pleasant. It must be Legoland in the Mall of America. That place is blocktastic ™.

Factoid #7: When I was in first grade, I won a local art contest with a water color painting of an apple tree. I think it was an apple tree, but it really could have just been a tree with red spots in it. Maybe it was a chicken pox tree.

Anyway, that was the height of my artistic ability.

Of course, it would be rude of me to hog this award and not share with others. Here are 15 other blogs that I would like to pass this award to. You should check each of these out.

In all seriousness, I am really appreciative of the people who have supported this stupid sight full of some nincompoop’s random thoughts. Thanks.

  1. Well then you certainly can see why my husband was okay when I suggested “Gibson” as our son’s name?

actually, it was my mom’s maiden name and I wanted to name our son after my grandfather, but Bernard or Bernie didn’t work for us. So we went with the last name.

Of course, depending on who you speak to…”You named your kid after a guitar? You named your kid after a drink”

CONGRATULATIONS! We’re all sort of ninnies ‘poopin’ along.

and thank you for sending the “award” my way. Really and truly! 🙂 I’ll try to get to it soon. 🙂

I loved your list about 7 facts. They are just so typicaly you and thats why I enjoy this blog.

If your toes are cold then your dog is not doing her job. Put your tootsies under her belly or on her back. Thats what dogs are for.

  3. Hey Nathan, thanks for the mention. Unfortunately, the Stylish Blogger Award took everything out of me as far as sharing things about myself and passing on the award; and not even mentioning the grueling research I did to find the origin of the Stylish Blogger Award, so I’ll have to pass on the honor of of passing this on.

Loved hearing 7 things about you, especially your apparent fixation with your feet!
